Coming Up With Ideas

When I began my novel, I had problems coming up with ideas. I would sit in my chair and start watching TV. The movies I would watch that got my creative juices flowing were action, the superhero movies coming out are real good and help a great deal. When my mind started running then the movie would be paused until my ideas ceased flowing.

Sometimes if I saw a picture, my mind started contemplating and a small story would emerge. Those thoughts would be inputted and a small story would appear. Through that process, my novel would reveal itself and again and it would take precedence. Should I run into another block then I would return to that photo and continue the story.

So the tip I would like to impart would be, should you find yourself struggling for ideas, then removing your mind from the work in progress might be a good thing. It might be difficult to step back from your baby but I think it would be worth it. It was for me.
