1. The Hook (around 1% or 800 words)

Since I write suspense/thrillers, I'll focus on that genre. The hook is your first opportunity to grab your reader’s attention and draw them into your story.

2. The Inciting Incident (around 12% or 9,500 words)

The Inciting Incident in a thriller is the discovery of a crime or the crime happening and that will indicate that there is or are master antagonist(s) on the loose.

3. The First Plot Point (around 25% or 20,000 words)

The first plot point is the moment where your protagonist will be personally affected by the conflict that is the basis for your thriller.
