When the decision to write a novel was made, I would do nothing but sit in front of my computer staring at the laptop. The desire to write a novel has been there for years and I had ideas in my head but it was like my brain was frozen.

When this tip crossed these eyes, I ruminated on those words and decided I would write for fifteen minutes and see what happened. The first writing goal was to write whatever popped into my mind for fifteen minutes, no thinking, just typing.

That fifteen minutes was lengthened with the passage of time so another writing goal was set and as days rolled by, the writing got easier and the novel that had been so elusive was now presenting itself so the decision was made that the time was right to start my novel.

The time goal was replaced by word count but since my digits refuse to cooperate, I'm forced peck at a minimal rate of 200-500 words a day.

Throughout this process, I found that setting writing goals helped me as a writer. Setting writing goals also engagedmy creativity which moved my novel forward.
