I wanted to like this novel but alas it was a disappointment. The main plot has been done before and the inciting incident hacked my gizzard. A freshman in high school might have concocted this story for an English assignment. It was not believable that the wife had to go through what she did and the reason those hardships stopped was beyond believable.
The story did start in California. It was about a husband trying to save his wife from a madman. The reader is taken on a journey 1/2 way around the globe with a touch of MI6 scattered. It wasn't a story I could get engrossed in as I had to keep putting it down due to errors in the novel.
One of the multitude of reasons for setting this book down was the massive use of adverbs. Some adverbs are fine but when my mouth gets tongue tied with words ending in 'ly,' it is ridiculous. The book might have been twenty five percent shorter if the 'ly' words were removed.
The reader needs to be forewarned as there is much foul language proving the author's limited vocabulary. If you, as the reader, don't like foul language littering the pages then you need to pass on this book. The reason I forced myself to finish was because I wanted to give an honest review.
