I want to start by saying this book never did hook me. I read it because I wanted to give an honest review. The two MC's (FBI agents) had to work together while dealing with a failed relationship. What was off-putting to me about that situation was that after the woman was falsely arrested and spent time behind bars, she was happy to bed the other. If she wasn't an FBI agent, that might be feasible but FBI goes through rigorous testing and weeds out weak-willed individuals.

The main plot progressed at a nice pace but it did jump around. I found myself putting the book down after a chapter or I'd skim chapters at a time because of the jumping.

I found out this was the second book in this series but it wasn't obvious throughout the novel which is good. It's good that it's a stand-alone novel.

I wanted to like this novel but alas it was a disappointment. The main plot has been done before and the inciting incident hacked my gizzard

I will say first, this book seemed to be written at a middle school reading level and was riddled with cliches.
