61 hours by Lee Child review

This is the first Lee Child novel that I have read. I found myself skipping complete chapters and a not missing out on the plot. Much of the book was detailing the daily activities protecting a 70 year old lady. I can see spending a couple chapters letting the reader know why she should be protected and getting the lay of the land but I could never justify spending half the book describing every detail of the lady's situation and what it took to protect her. This novel could have been cut in half since I missed nothing by skipping chapters. I skipped about 50% of the book.

The actual writing and the grammar kept me interested in the plot but it did not have me enthralled. Without spoiling any of the book, I will say that I did not like what Jack Reacher did toward the end of the novel. It did not match my mental idea of what Jack Reacher is all about.

There were a couple interesting twists to the story, but they did not matter to me much since I was not invested in the novel like I could have been.

I wanted to like this novel but alas it was a disappointment. The main plot has been done before and the inciting incident hacked my gizzard

I will say first, this book seemed to be written at a middle school reading level and was riddled with cliches.
